Imrana Qadeer
Imrana Qadeer is a retired professor from the Centre of Social Medicine and Community Health, Jawaharlal Nehru University. A qualified doctor (M.B.B.S., M.D.), she works on issues at the interface of medicine and society. Her areas of interest include the organization of public health services, the political economy of health, the health of workers and women in India, and research methodology. She co-edited a book on Public Health and the Poverty of Reforms: A South Asian Predicament. Currently, Professor Qadeer is working on the health implications of structural reforms, and has also been involved with the planning efforts of both governmental and grass-roots organizations. She is a recipient of the prestigious J.P. Naik Senior Fellow award.
